New York City has been without a municipal energy
planning function for many years. The present mayoral administration has
realized the importance of this aspect of our infrastructure and initiated a
planning process through an inter-agency task force. At our February meeting we will hear from the Task Force chair
how the work has been defined, what issues have been at the forefront of
consideration, what recommendations are emerging, and what the future of city
energy planning and policy looks like.
There will be ample time allotted for discussion.
The Task Force expects to be releasing its final
report shortly. It focuses primarily on
the city’s electrical needs and resources.
Come and get an inside view of this process, learn how to obtain the
report and comment during the public comment period, and discuss how the Task
Force and its work will be integrated with other planning initiatives and
outreach our professional community to provide long-term guidance for the
City.
Mr. Gil Quinones is
a Senior Vice President of the New York City Economic Development Corporation
and is chairing the Mayor’s Task Force on Energy. The EDC is responsible for support of business in the City and
among its programs offers assistance in accessing a variety of energy incentives. Prior to accepting this position last year,
Mr. Quinones held positions at Con Edison and, following deregulation, Con
Edison Solutions.
