Moisture damage contributes to over 90% of all reported building material failures.

According to the National Association of Home Builders, moisture damage costs builders in the U.S. approximately 5.3 billion dollars per year in new construction, and 9 billion dollars in U.S. housing.

It is estimated that "25% of airways disease, and 60% of interstitial lung disease may be associated with moisture in the home or work environment" (HUD, 2001).
