Before end-of-life vehicles are recycled, they must be drained of engine oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, antifreeze, washer fluid, freon and gasoline. The system can drain the vehicle within 8-10 minutes and pumps the fluids into dedicated recovery tanks to be recycled.

“This is the best available technology for draining fluids from end-of-life vehicles,” says Tom Malone, president, Brookfield Resource Management, Inc. “It’s much cleaner and more efficient than conventional methods. The combination of the environmental benefits and the economic benefits of recycling fluids makes this a sound investment.”

Brookfield’s new fluid containment system has huge environmental benefits. By properly removing and containing potentially hazardous fluids, the potential for ground and surface water contamination is combated. The updated process also prevents spills and cross-contamination of vehicle fluids.

Chicago-based Bioheat heating oil dealer Ultra Green Energy Services LLC has expanded its wholesale biodiesel distribution in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut with the addition of two new wholesale biodiesel terminals in Newark, N.J., and Southington, Conn. The company has existing terminals in New Hyde Park, N.Y., New Rochelle, N.Y., and Elisabeth, N.J. It plans to continue expanding within the tri-state region.

“Ultra Green Energy Services is the most experienced company in the Northeast U.S. integrating biodiesel into the wholesale diesel and heating oil markets,” said Michael Cooper, Ultra Green Energy Service’s vice president and director of sales and marketing. “We have major advantages—these terminals will allow us to have the lowest distribution costs—passing on these savings will encourage people to use bioheating oil blends this winter.”

Ultra Green Energy Services began grain trading in the 1970s before moving into ethanol project development and marketing in the 1980s. More recently, the company has developed unique hedging strategies and financial facilities to promote the production and sale of biofuels. In 2001, Ultra Green Energy Services principals were the first heating oil dealers in the nation to market a biodiesel blend of heating fuel.

NEW YORK, July 9 (Reuters) - General Electric Co's (GE.N: Quote, Profile, Research) GE Energy Financial Services unit will invest a total of $100 million in three of Noble Environmental Power's wind farms under construction in New York, GE said in a release Wednesday.

NEW YORK, July 9 (Reuters) - General Electric Co’s (GE.N: Quote, Profile,Research) GE Energy Financial Services unit will invest a total of $100 million in three of Noble Environmental Power’s wind farms under construction in New York, GE said in a release Wednesday.

Noble, of Essex, Connecticut, started building the wind farms last month and plans to complete them during the fourth quarter of 2008.

The wind farms consist of the 106.5 megawatt Noble Chateaugay Windpark in Franklin County, the 97.5 MW Noble Altona Windpark in Clinton County and the 126 MW Noble Wethersfield Windpark in Wyoming County.

The three wind parks, which use GE’s 1.5 MW wind turbines, will generate enough electricity to power more than 110,000 New York homes, the GE unit said.

GE Energy Financial Services said it will invest equity as the non-managing member.

This is the second wind energy portfolio GE has invested in with Noble. In 2007, the GE unit invested in the Noble Bliss, Clinton and Ellenburg wind parks also in New York.

With $19 billion in assets, GE Energy Financial Services, of Stamford, Connecticut, invests more than $5 billion annually in the energy and water industries.

With the investment in these three wind farms, the GE unit surpassed the $4 billion mark toward its goal of investing $6 billion in renewable energy by 2010.

In addition to helping GE meet its renewable energy investment target, the new investment will also help New York meet its Renewable Portfolio Standard, which requires 25 percent of the electricity consumed by New Yorkers come from renewable energy by 2013.

Noble has about 3,850 MW of wind parks under development in eight states. It is majority owned by funds affiliated with JPMorgan Chase & Co’s (JPM.N: Quote, Profile, Research) private equity division JPMorgan Partners LLC, which are managed by private equity firm CCMP Capital Advisors LLC.
