Sectors » Greening Communities

The mission of the EBA/NYS Green Buildings Task Force is to facilitate the exchange of information, ideas and experiences among design and environmental professionals, developers, institutional owners, government and financial sectors, thereby promoting the development of environmentally sustainable buildings in New York State. We seek to create dialogues that surface issues, address barriers and promote opportunities that effect the growth of markets related to green building development.
In pursuing this mission the committees will undertake the following initiatives:
- Conduct a series of roundtables that focus on specific barriers and solutions to green development. Participants will be key actors representing the public sector, utilities, labor, development and design communities;
- Develop joint programs with specific end-user communities, such as Smart Schools to foster interest and support for sustainable development in schools and other critical institutional sectors;
- Foster alliances with other real estate associations to expand the knowledge base, interest and markets, generating political support and interest in sustainable development;
- Encourage extension of and refinements to the New York State Green Building Tax Credit program, and other legislative initiatives that create incentives promoting green building development;
- Participate in regular workshops and informational programs that bring together individuals with interest and experience in green design and development.
